Is this true?

I was recently reading a blog, Box of Tricks, written by a teacher, Jose Picardo. This particular post had a video embedded in it that Mr. Picardo created, which is below.

Now, like the author states in his posting, there are way more videos, PPTs, etc., than I would like to view or read about 21st Century students, teachers, and learning.  But, I did think that this video, short and sweet, and not loaded down with text, was pretty interesting.

So, of course, I am most curious about what 21st Century students think of it.  Check it out, and if you wish you can follow the link from Mr. Picardo’s name to the posting itself, which is also brief.

Then, think, respond, and submit a reaction.  I am truly interested.

Hmm interesting. I can see where he is coming from: because of social networks, reading/writing in texting format rather than using propper spelling and grammar would, not only defect the handwriting because of the keyboard factor, but have the students’ knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation slowly fade from sight. Which would then call for them to relearn the subjects, setting them behind. I’m not quite sure where I stand on this particular theory, however. More information would set me to a side. Great Find, Though.:] You’re browsing skills are impecible Mr. Madden!

Lanie,

Do you think that the teacher (the guy who created the video) is trying to say that kids spend too much time on the Internet? Or, was he saying (all right, this is my opinion–just, my opinion) that teachers need to realize that kids don’t learn the way teachers did when they were kids, so teachers need to start changing how they teach?

Hmm.
