Well, here is the information regarding getting into a blogging/blog commenting competition that is being organized by two teachers from Tasmania, Australia!

The competition involves making your own blog, or commenting on the blogs of other kids from around the world. The kids are students from Australia, the United States, Canada, Europe, and more!

Imagine, you would be communicating with a student who lives almost 10,000 miles away! As I write this at 5:50 PM, Friday, those students are probably asleep because it is coming up on 8:00 AM, tomorrow! They are 14 hours ahead.

So, this is an educational blog. It is safe. I have checked it out and been in touch with the teachers myself. You are not required to give any personal information. Just make up an online name, give your grade level, and where it asks you for a class blog URL (universal resource locator–which is the address for websites), give http://mrmadden.edublogs.org

Then, you get to be part of an international blogging competition that is, for many of you, a sneak peek into your future! Remember, as technology becomes more evolved, the world gets smaller.

So, if you are at least a little bit curious, read Miss Wyatt’s comment on MadWords Then below, and click on the link.

Let me know how it goes, and ask me for assistance, let me know about any problems or concerns you may think of, okay?

Give blogging a chance.

Miss W.

G’day from Tasmania, Australia. I noticed a couple of you thought taking part in the blogging competition might be fun. Well if you want to join about 70 other students and 8 classes from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Portugal, then come and register.

So in order to compete, you have to have a blog already? That’s the part that confuses me!

Hannah,

No, one of the options, I believe, is merely to make comments on other kid’s blogs.

For example, these are just a tiny portion of student blogs:

http://amzy.globalstudent.org.au/

http://www.nadinel.learnerblogs.org/

http://hoc0001.globalstudent.org.au/

As I understand Miss Wyatt (whose blog with more information is at http://wyatt67.edublogs.org/), you would visit blogs like these and leave a comment. No personal information other than your first name, or online name.

Hopefully, a few people will enter the contest at Hayes, because I will be the teacher in charge of awarding prizes for the blogging competition!

Let me know what you people think, and please, please, please, let me know of any questions.

-Mr. M

Okay I think I’m going to comment on people’s blogs! Thanks!

Hannah,

All right! Go forth and write!

Let us know how it goes!

You go!

-Mr. M

G’day Hannah,
Great to see someone from here taking part in the competition. This is a link to the page which shows all the students and classes taking part. Feel free to comment on any of them but remember to include stubc08 somewhere on your comment, so the author knows you are in the competition.

Hi Mr M and class,
Most students in my grade have joined Miss Wyatt’s comment competition (we are the blogs listed with 5/6C behind them on her competition blogroll) so we will look forward to hearing from Hannah, at least! Because we are on term holidays (like Spring break I guess – two weeks off) we havent’ begun the comp yet, but school goes back on Monday and then we will be getting into it.
It’s great that some of you are going to be publishing some of your work – we like seeing what people around the world are up to. If you visit our blogs (click on my name, then go to the student blogs page for a list) you can see some of the writing my grade have done this year.
Mrs C and 5/6C, Victoria, Australia

I’ve just posted a comment in the forum regarding your question of students using the class blog vs their own blog. Please let me know if you need any assistance with coordinating your students.

PS two teachers from Tasmania? Do you mean me and Miss Wyatt? Miss Wyatt is in Tasmania but I’m based in Western Australia. Bit like being on the opposite sides of USA – except that I’m on the better side of Australia :)

I’ve made my blog. There’s nothing special to it at this very moment, but it made it.
