Huh?
As you may or may not know, Miss Storm, 8th grade science teacher, along with other teachers (me, included), students, and parents, has begun a Green Team at Hayes. The goal of the team is to get Hayes a Green School award for being more enviromentally alert, aware, with it, on top of things, happening, and generally nifty.
Things like having students do projects to further the ecological soundness of Hayes, or increase the amount of recycling stuff that would normally end up on some dump (aka, landfill) somewhere. Or, to help get Hayes students to become more enviromentally aware. Wouldn’t it be great if just one kid would hesitate before tossing that plastic bag into the trash, and instead start collecting them in order to recycle?!
So, I will communicate, through this blog, more information as the program blossoms. If you are interested, see me or Miss Storm (if you don’t know her, she is most friendly, and quite a hoot!) about how to get involved.
The next Green Team meeting (for students only) is Tuesday, November 27, 2:45-4:00, in Miss Storm’s cavernous classroom, Room 501.
People, you have such amazing enthusiasm for life. This program/team seems built for so many of you! Create your legacy at Hayes by joining up and starting something that could potentially be around for years and years to come! Loan your absolutely sensational creativity to the Green Team–whether it be through your writing prowess, your splendid artistic ability (hint, hint), or your superb problem-solving powers. Make the adults in the building say, “Whoa! (shaking their heads) These kids are so much more than just great students!”
Get Going! Get Green!
