I thought there was going to be a beach

All right, all right, it is true, the postings have been a bit more sporadic of late. Just a phase, nothing more.

So, it is the perfect time to ask the question: Now that you have completed your first quarter of a new grade, did it live up to your expectations? Was the “next level” as tough, as easy, as fantabulous, as heart-wrenching, as boring, as Wow!, as Ho hum, as “this is it?”, as (fill in the blank here) as you thought it might be? Is this year, so far, better than last? Why? New, old, changed friends? Better food in the cafe? Comfortable shoes?

How has the 1st quarter unfolded for you? What crazy events made it memorable, or, what memorable events made it “Oy! I am glad that quarter’s over!”?

What do you look forward to over the next three quarters, now that you have a better lay of the land, so to speak (idiom)?

I remember my 7th grade experience being pretty interesting, in a good way: I liked my teacher (he was actually the major reason I became a teacher), and left me feeling quite optimistic about the next year.

So in creeped 8th and, Bam! Welcome to the worst year in my academic history by a landslide! (Which means, of course, that if a kid has a completely miserable experience at school one year, that the next year might be their best one ever. Hmm, never really thought about it that way.)

Just goes to show you that life is so unpredictable, and I suppose that is what makes life great:

The unknown factor of the future. Anything is possible. Anything.

And you..?

The first quarter of the school year has been…pretty good. Of course, it would be hard to beat 6th grade having Mr. Madden as an ela teacher and all!! 7th grade has been most definitely not been the best year, but not the worst either.

Actually, I have made one new friend. I have CSI with her. We’re also in the same lab group for CSI, too.

Guess what?! I don’t just sit in my 1st hour class the whole time before classes starts. Once I put my whole table’s chairs down and I have my stuff on my desk, I go get a drink of water. Hey it’s something to do!!

To tell you the truth, I haven’t has hot lunch or anything from the snack bar at all so far. I’m trying not to. It’s much easier for me to just bring a lunch. I don’t really like anything of the school’s food anyways. On the other hand, I don’t like having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a bottle of water either (that’s exactly what I have…get’s boring easily. I don’t want to change it thought! Don’t ask…because I don’t no the answer)!!

My nails have been awesome so far this year, too!! Every week for like the past month I’ve been changing the colors of my nails. I’ve also been putting polka dots on them. For October I’ve been painting them with black and/or white and/or orange. They’re so cool…and a lot of people (girls) have either said that they like them or they ask me how I do them.

Language Arts has been boring so far. All we do is read out of the text books and make these poster things for them.
Science has been good. I’m really learning a lot and Mrs. Losch is so funny.
Math is easy…It always has been. Mr. Palacio is a great teacher.
History is also pretty boring. I’m good at it though. One of the things that I like is when we sometimes get to play “Would You Rather…” at the end of the hour out of Mr. Root’s book. It can get kind of gross when the things that we have to choose from are especially disturbing (and I have history 4th hour, which is right before lunch).
I like CSI a lot. It tends to get a little confusing at times though.
Computer science is okay. I’ve really improved on my typing skills, but the two guys I sit between are extremely annoying!! They know it, too!!

There actually was a crazy event that has happened. It was just last Thursday (10/25). I was at my bus stop in the morning talking to two other people that were there. We had our backpacks in line, as usual, and were minding our own business. I had noticed when I got to the house that the bus stop was at that a person’s car who doesn’t live there was in the driveway. As we were talking, the person was leaving in his car. I didn’t think anything of it because the guy that does live there always is far away from our backpacks when he leaves for work. We make sure he has plenty of space. All of a sudden, I turned around and saw that the car was running over my backpack!!! I grabbed it as soon as I could, but for the guy to get off my backpack, he had to run over it again!! In the dark I tried to see if anything was broken. All I could really tell was that my math binder was broken. I never heard the person say that he was sorry once! All he said was that I should put my backpack on the side walk (that’d be in everyone’s way and it’s too far from my bus stop)!! I was steaming with anger!! As soon as I got to my 1st hour room, I looked at everything. My binder was ruined!! The rings were totally screwed up. When I got home I inspected it more. I had two bookmarks (my bookmark that looks like a cd that my best friend gave me, and one I’ve had since 5th grade). Plus, there were a lot of indentations everywhere and marks. There also is a black mark on my NEW backpack from the tires. I did end up getting a new binder and math binder, thankfully. My binder is almost the same. Mine used to be a soft dark green, but now it’s black. It’s the same kind at least. My math binder is the exact same. I’m happy about that. I hope you liked (well not really. You know what I mean) my crazy event that I will most definitely remember.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. Man, I can’t believe that we’ve already gone through eight weeks of school (we have to keep count for our daily opener for history)!!

Hey Mr. Madden,

Oh my gosh, I would have never guessed that this first quarter would have went by so fast and been so easy for me (knock on wood). All the teachers I actually get along with year except for one (I will not mention any last names). I did really good this first quarter!!! I’m proud of myself.

Ok, now I have to tell you this story about the second week of school! I have Mr. Palocious for my first hour and last year me and him would joke around with each other and stuff like that well anyway, someone was leaving notes on his desk everyday that said stuff like “guess who” or something dumb like that. Well since I’m in his first hour and last year we used to joke around with each other, he thought I kept putting the notes there. And everyday he would ask me if I was the one putting the notes on his desk and I would tell him no.

It may not seem funny from reading it right now but it was one of those “you had to be there things”

Got To Go,
Haley

Well school has been pretty good so far most of my classes are doing pretty good.

Band- nothing out of the ordinary but Mrs. Zerman cracks me up.

Math – kind of a snore but hey i’m not complaining

History – Actually I don’t think it’s that bad

Science – Mrs. Losch and Mrs. Henning are absolutly hilarious.

L. A. – launguage arts is also hilarious too

Computer Science _ my typing has gotten a whole lot better (and Kaitlyn the people you sit next to are annoying ;-) )

On the whole my school year has been pretty good. I like having lunch last because the wayI think about it is if you just get through the morning then you can pretty much goof off for the rest of the day.

Haley S.- Don’t you miss 5th hour math? *Sigh*

and Mr. M, I missed the Green Team info becuase I was at church (Yes, on a Monday)… can I just get the info from you?

Well, my firt quarter of 7th grade was amazing. I love all of my teachers. My most favorite class is science because a) I really like the teacher(s)
b) I like doing all the cell stuff! Next would be band becdause we are able to play more than five notes put together in different patterns. Then it would be history because we are learning about our early ancestors. Now that is cool! Next is ELA because we do a lot of drawing projects. Lastly, math :( Is is not the teacher,( I still love you Mrs. Mulder!) it’s just that it isn’t fun.

WOW! OK so the first quarter of my eighth grade year has been a lot of things. But the three main things ive experienced during this quarter are: 1.tiring 2. embarrasing, and 3. its really made me think A lot!

we’ll start off with Numero Uno, Tiring. I feel as if i havent been able to sleep in weeks ( purpose of the energy drinks) I’m loaded with Algebra homework, books to read for English class, papers to write, a lot of things thats are very stressful to deal with. But i know that they ( my teachers) are only preparing me for high school, which would mean that homework is a good thing, right??

Next we move onto embarrasing: It was a crisp morning, and my gym class was ready to go out side in 30 degree weather to play flag football, two things I’m not very fond of( the cold weather and football). So as I’m getting ready i realize i didn’t exactly choose the best type of pants to wear. i chose very loose fitting pajamas, something that i would soon regret. Anyways i fasten my belt on my waist(somehow i didn’t exactly put the belt on the right way, so my pants were still loose, which i paid no attention too, another thing i soon regretted. Ok, so the game began and my team was running down the field, i look up and notice the ball is headed right for me. I reach out my arms and the ball is caught( yet another thing i regretted). So as we all know the purpose of flag football is to grab the flag of the person with the ball (ME). So im running thinking, oh yea im about to make a touchdown baby, while the guy chasing me is thinking im gunna catch this girl and get her flag. So the boy grabs for my flag, and unfortunately he didn’t exactly garb the flag. *NOTE: i was wearing loose pants. Also the belt i was wearing wasnt tied around the wasit of my pants. We can all probably guess what happens next ( mostly because i used great foreshadowing skills…lol). So basically i take the cake for most embarrasing moment, and this is all happening the first couple weeks of eighth grade, not exactly the way i planned it to go *sigh

Last but not least we move on to number 3. Now when i say that this first quarter made me think A LOT, im not talking about the work i do during class, but more about that in 3 more quarters ill be graduating Hayes….and if these 3 quarters go by as fast as i know they will, im not going to be a happy camper. I’m going to miss so many things, like friends, racing the clock so i can make it in time to buy my graham crackers in the morning, and how could i forget mr. madden. I’m most definitely going to enjoy what i have left of middle school, and i just wanted to tell all of you to live it up!!! Enjoy the fact that your still in 6th and 7th grade, because i guarantee that when your in my position, ready to leave Hayes, your gonna wish you hadnt taken it for granted. So this is what the first quarter of my Last and final year at Hayes has made me think of….

I like computer science too. I sit next to two of my good friends and were cracking each other up the whole hour. My typing hasn’t gotten much better. I’ve always been a fast typist- at the moment I’ at 53 AWPM. Not an all time high, but extremely respectable. =]

Don’tcha’ like my fancy language? ^ Lol.

I also agree with the rest of the 7th grade clan… my sixth hour science is the highlight of my day. I’m not going to lie either- my classmates (who are some of my best friends and hularious students) make up a big chunk of that desicion. But, it wouldn’t be fun without Mrs. Losch!

That’s all for now- I should really get some sleep *Yawn*. Night Night,
Klugee.

Well the two classes that are my favorite are either L.A. or science. L.A. because it os so much fun. for Halloween Mr. Helmic let us listen to The War of The Worlds. It was extremely awesome I can’t belive that some people wanted to arrest the guy that did this because most people though that he was telling the truth.

Science is tied for first because Mrs. Henning is absoulty hilarious. I like it when they teach the joined classes together becuase we usually laugh our heads off.

In third is band because I like playing music and mrs. zerman is a really good teacher.

Oh yeah computer science is tied for first because I like computers and I like the assignments that we do in there

Tess

History is fifth because ithink that it’s kind of stupid but I thik that it’s more entertaing than math class. in the fact that our class isn’t well behaved and most of the kids get in trouble a lot

Math class is in last place because it bores mee. Don’t get me wrong I like Mrs. Mulder but math has always been boring for me and this year hasn’t really changed that much.

all in all this year has been pretty good and i feel bad for Jessi n. because I would have beemn humilatied too.
