Well, let’s start here at Hayes, and maybe get people to think about how much “stuff” goes from their house to some landfill somewhere that getting to be the size of the Moon!

Details to follow, but listen to the cast below to get a sniff about the challenge!

Old sneakers. Ew.

That is so cool! I am a major ‘Save the World’ type of person. It just makes me so sad that our world is burning up! We could be the only life ever to exist. Look at what we’ve become :(

Delanie

mr.madden- i think the whole sneaker thing is a good idea, and if its for a good cause, then why not?! one question though, who or were would i bring my shoes too?!

Jessi,

Thanks for you thoughts!

Ms. Storm and I are working out who will be accepting the shoes, and where to drop them off.

We are pondering a contest that pits 6th vs 7th vs 8th vs 6th vs 8th vs 7th…you get it, right?

We will, as soon as we have a plan, be putting up ads for the contest for further information.

So, dig those old Nikes, Tigers, Keds, Skechers, Doc Martens, Asics, Filas, Chuck Taylors, lowtop, highrise, sky blue, and purple people eaters out of your closets, basements, hampers, dust bunnies, attics, trunks, backpacks, and under your beds (Look! That’s where I put that sandwich!), and bring them on in!!!

mr.madden- you and ms. storm should definetly setup a contest! And illl be keeping a look out for the ads around the school. P.S-Ha, what 13 year old wears chuck tatlors or doc martens? Also, if you guys need any help, id be happy to pitch in..

Since we’re in the whole saving the world mode (don’t get me wrong- I’m all for it…) I love this video off Youtube.com. The video’s of Alexis Bledel and her views of Global Warming. Yes, it’s cheesey- but I find it funny- check it out at the link below.

P.S. Mr. Madden- when are the Green Team meetings? I know the informational meeting is on Monday, but when are the meeting’s once the program gets going??

My mom just told me that we’re going to that meeting….I forgot when it is, but I’m really excited about it!

Delanie

P.S That video cilp is funny!

Wait, so what is this all about. Myb computer is really slow so I didn’t get the audio thing. Let me get tjis straight. You (Mr. Madden) are trying to save trash by collecting old shoes and you’re going to do it at our school. is that it just wanted to make sure.

tess

Hey, Mr. Madden, it’s Tess (duh). I was just looking at the 6th graders’ blog.

I have a good idea: You link the two blogs, and have an “Ask Us” page where the current sixth graders can ask the alumni a question they have about BOB, or anything school-related like that. I know it’s kind of a little late but, oh well.

Tess

I’m with Tess on this one. So what exactly are you going to do? I didn’t really understand what you were saying. Maybe it’s just me. I got up way to early this morning.

Everyone:

Information about the Reuseashoe deal will be out this week. You know, of course, that I will have to be backing my current 6th-ers if we do end up doing a contest between grade levels.

So, no throwing of tomatoes at Mr. Madden in the halls, all right? (Ripe avocadoes, maybe.)

Tess, GREAT idea! I am working to figure out how to create the kind of “advice” intersecting blogosphere device that you so alertly saw as a possibility. Keep those ideas coming, yes?

Kaitlyn, how was Extras? Let us know with a splendiforous book review. You would be among the first to do this online!

All right, my tortillas are baking in the oven, my tools are sitting in the rain from garden wall building earlier, and Zephyr is whining at me to pay attention to him, so I should depart now.

Much more to follow!

-Mr. M

I’m really sorry but I’m just going to start reading Extras tonight. I haven’t gotten a chance to read that much lately. Plus, I have to finish my other book before I start reading Extras. I only have about 10-20 pages left of the other one, though. I know I’ll be finding all the time I can to read Extras. I’ll definitely put a review up, too!

By the way, the whole shoe thing sounds great!
Kaitlyn S.
