I am experiencing writer’s block, so the title for this post is quite cliche (corny, overused, etc.).

I am hoping that this blog stimulates the creative side of me and my 6th grade ELA students at Hayes Middle School in Grand Ledge, MI.

Fingers and toes firmly crossed.

Please do:

1. Remember that the Internet is a public forum. Keep your communication appropriate.
2. Discuss ideas and issues that concern you and your fellow students, especially as they connect to our ELA class.
3. Back up your statements with examples, reasons, or other supportive evidence.
4. Read through all the posts in a discussion thread before you respond to one (so you are not asking a question that has already been asked or repeating something that someone else has already posted).

Please do not:

1.Post your full name or others’ last names, phone numbers, home addresses, or other personal information.
2.Attack others. Agree or disagree with others’ ideas using reasons and examples to support your view.
3.Use language that may be offensive to other users.
5.Change font sizes and/or colors unless you are trying to emphasize a point. It’s the content of your message that counts, not the style.

Hey Mr. Madden! This blog rocks! It is actully interesting! (haha! I knew it would be!) Hey! When do you pick the people for the Ben Mikalsen writers workshop? If I get picked (Not saying I will) is it after school?

~Nicole!~

Hey MR M! I was wondering the same thing as Nicole, when are you picking the Ben Mikalsen writing workshop people.
I think you should put up like tips up for the biography and the science story. Just wondering… do we have to use correct spelling or grammer on your blog, or can we use like IM lingo. Thanks,

Hey Mr. Madden, it is Nicole again. Just wanted to read the messages. I think that you are a dedacted teacher, like Brett said! The effort you put into this blog shows you really do want to teach us to respect other people’s words!

~Nicole

Mr.Madden If you are having problems with not having time to talk to your students about the book why not just talk to all of your classes about it because I think most of the first hour teachers are having the same problem. Just trim down the schedule a bit.

Hey Mr. madden I really like this idea of the blog.I think lots of other people like it too.

you are an AWESOME!!!!!!! teacher for doing this.

Hey Mr. Madden! How are you? This is a really cool blog. I’m a sixth grader at Pattengill Middle School. I heard about your blog and thought I’d check it out. I really like all of the resources such as the dictionary. I haven’t read “Red Midnight”, but it sounds like a great book according to your students so I think I will put it on my books to read over the summer list. I heard you are a writing and english teacher. English is my favorite subject! And I love to write stories for fun. Again, I really like this blog and I’m sure I’ll be seeing you in the Eastside neighborhood soon. Bye bye.

Hey Mr Madden.

I really think its cool how you came up with this blog, so
people can write to you and leave you messages.
Speaking of messages I was wondering when are
we going to do the poems that we write ( your
probably wondering how I know this, my mom told
me ) and I can’t wait! I think its so cool how people can send
messages to you.

talk to you soon,
Ben
